It means a lot for authors to have their words found. I know a huge part of the writing journey for me is discovering amazing books, the people behind them, and the stories they hold.

I'm definitely a romantic in that sense. Always looking to be swept away by a story (but who isn't?).
​
I'll always try and see what a situation did for me instead of to me. This is a major focal point for my characters and their arcs.

As for the settings and worlds you'll find...

To me, magic is seeing the parts of the world which are only hidden to those holding their eyes closed. In other words, it's everywhere. Powerful in the moments we feel powerful, yes, but also very much present in the most mundane of times. I might even argue it's in those in between seconds that the really good stuff resides. The stuff that makes us miss what's past, and get excited for what's to come - suspending us between memory and wonder.

I hope these stories and characters resonate with you. I hope they make you remember. I hope they make you forget.
A tall order, I know, but it wouldn't be fun if it were easy.

J.P. Hostetler (Jake) is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in the United States. He writes for both children and adults about leaving the comfort zone and the vital importance of diversity: of culture, of peoples, and of thought.
​
His debut children's book, The Sky Belongs to the Dreamers, received a Mom's Choice Gold Award in 2019 and his subsequent Young Adult series, Around Curiosity's Edge, won the Reader's Favorite Book Award for best in Mythology & Fairytale in 2021.
​
After time spent living in Germany, South Korea, and India, Jake currently resides outside of Los Angeles, California where he splits his time between writing and working at a biotechnology startup.
